In this episode, David’s Been Here investigates what to see and do one of the most beautiful towns along the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, in Varna.
David starts at Varna’s Archaeological Museum, which holds an exquisite collection of artifacts. Among the things that are priceless held here’s the oldest treasure on earth. David shows us that the horns of the Thracian guy that was discovered alongside his golden treasure, dating back to 5,000 B.C.
Gold and the guy have been discovered in an ancient necropolis from the american zone of Varna. Archaeologists believe the guy was old when he died.
Continuing with the background tour of the city, David makes a halt to see Varna’s Roman Bath complex. These will be the Roman plantations in Europe! The bathroom complex still has lots of the different rooms. Another part are the shops, which can be located just outside the bathroom complex.
Next stop is that the Varna Cathedral, the oldest cathedral in Bulgaria, dating back to 1886 (pre-dates that the Sofia Cathedral). It is the Cathedral in the Black Sea coast. Inside, David shows us a few of those hands crafted scenes and icons from Jesus’ life. Indoors , the priest of this church gives us some more info about the background of this Cathedral.
